Chiru recalls observing Ramzan in childhood
HYDERABAD: Star-turned-politician Chiranjeevi became nostalgic on Tuesday while recalling his memories about the Ramzan days in his childhood.
"I used to undertake fasting (roza) in those days and participated in the namaaz. I still remember the Azaan read by the local muezzin inviting the faithful to the prayers," he recalled.
He was speaking to reporters after former Telugu Desam minister from Kadapa Khaleel Basha and others joined Praja Rajyam in the party office.
When his father was working at Ponnuru in Guntur district, he said, a mosque existed just beside the wall of their house. He was studying Class VI then.
"My brother Naga Babu and I used to visit the mosque. While Naga Babu used to maintain close relations with the people there, I learned alphabets of Urdu like alif, be, pe, te, neem, zeem," he recalled.
Chiranjeevi said that he was happy to welcome the Muslim leaders into his party, that too on the first day of the Ramzan month.
He said that he was eager to visit the Amin Pir Dargah in Kadapa as advised by Bollywood star Amir Khan and ace music director AR Rehaman asked him to pay a visit the Dargah.
Praja Rajyam Party will constitute ad hoc committees for the ensuing tour of the party president Chiranjeevi within ten days.
These committees will look after the immediate needs and does not form part of the permanent structure of the party, party’s official spokespersons P Prabhakar and Mithra told reporters here.
"We will come out with comprehensive policy on issues like education, health and Naxalites before the tour,"
