CPM open options with Praja Rajyam


HYDERABAD : Though CPM has given clear indications of its willingness to join hands with Telugu Desam Party as part of its nation-level attempt for a third front, the party leaders are opening their options to keep politician-turned film star Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam also in its fold. The party has given indication on Wednesday that they were moving closer towards TDP with its senior leaders Prakash Karat and Sitaram Yechuri met TDP chief N Chadnrababu Naidu, at later’s residence and held discussions on the recent political development in the present of their state-level party leaders.

Earlier to their meeting, Praja Rajyam official spokesperson Dr Mitra visited CPM office to meet Karat and Yechuri. Though it was described as a courtesy call, the leaders revealed they had discussed politics also. Dr Mitra is reportedly trying to impress upon CPM leadership that their parties have many common principles.

Yechury admitted that the Left and Chandrababu Naidu were seriously working on a "credible" third alternative to fight the BJP and the Congress. However, CPM not disappointing Praja Rajyam at this junction stating that they would take a final decision on poll alliances after discussing at party’s national and state committee meetings.

CPM state secretary B V Raghavulu asked the Praja Rajyam leaders to come out open against Congress and join hands with other forces to defeat Congress in the state. This has given message that the Left party is trying to lure Chiranjeevi to join `third front’ at national level along with TDP.
