In a new development, CPI State Secretary K Narayana met Chiranjeevi a couple of days ago and discussed the issue of alliances. This meet has been confirmed by Narayana as well as Praja Rajyam spokesperson Dr. Mithra.
Apparently CPI is taking the lead in bringing together opposition parties to forge a third front as an alternative to Congress and Telugu Desam Party. Mr. Narayana while talking to reporters in Tirupati said his party would believe that there is a need to build a third front in the state and mentioned that the talks with Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party would continue further. He also denied the reports about differences between CPI and CPM on electoral strategies and said both the Left parties would work together on common issues.
While CPM has been giving indications of an alliance with the TDP, the CPI has been pursuing the Third Front line and trying to rope in Praja Rajyam and Telanagana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
Meanwhile, Praja Rajyam spokesperson Dr. Mithra told reporters today that they are open for poll alliances with other parties that support the Praja Rajyam Ideology. However he conveyed that it is too early to discuss about alliances for now. Dr. Mithra once again reiterated that Praja Rajyam is is the only alternative to the ruling Congress.
