Second-rung leaders are PR’s strength

Praja Rajyam (PR)leader Bhuma Nagireddy said second-rung leaders are the strength of the party. Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, he said there is good response from the political activists who are not power-hungry leaders but want to see the party in power.

He said there is no dearth of leadership in the party as is being projected in some quarters. He said able leaders are available for the party in each and every constituency. Many leaders from different parties are in touch with the party and are waiting for an opportunity to switch over, he said.

Mr. Nagireddy said political parties in the State were stirred out of slumber after the visit of Chiranjeevi to Siricilla as part of his study of weavers’ problems. Why the parties enjoying power and those which had enjoyed in the past failed to react to the misery of weavers, he questioned.

Mr. Nagireddy was critical of the TDP saying its president is making mindless promises which are impracticable to implement. As former Chief Minister of the State, he should have thought of its financial implications, he said.

He said farmers are facing serious problems due to shortage of fertilizer in the district. The problem had cropped up due to faulty distribution system, he said, adding Congress would have to pay a heavy price.

On the social justice, Mr. Nagireddy said the party will spring a surprise to all parties with its innovative ideas.
